Founded by a mother whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver, Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) is the nation’s largest nonprofit working to protect families from drunk driving and underage drinking. The mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.
Reporting to the CEO, the National Chief Development Officer (CDO) will diversify fundraising results within MADD nationwide. This individual assures that the organization’s culture, systems and procedures support fund development in all fifty states. S/He will lead staff and volunteers to institutionalize philanthropy and fund development within this organization to achieve sustainable results and support programs nationally.
We seek an experienced fundraiser and philanthropic strategist with a passion for the mission of MADD. The candidate has achieved quantified results, building, leading and managing a high-level development program. This position requires demonstrated experience in planning and implementing a comprehensive fund development program and producing charitable contributions. This individual is expected to work effectively with staff and volunteers throughout the organization and nationwide. Experience in national or regional nonprofit organizations working with field affiliates is highly desired. Extensive travel is expected. Telecommuting will be considered.
A bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years as a fundraising officer in a nonprofit environment is required. In addition 5 years of progressive management experience is a must, 10 years preferred.
