Paul Romero
Paul Romero is currently the Director of the Office of Health Equity which is New Mexico’s version of the Office of Minority Health for the Department of Health. The Office seeks to reduce health disparities in minority populations and improve the public health and well being of all New Mexicans. He has been in this position since 2001. He began his career as a public servant as a Child Protective Services Supervisor with Children, Youth and Families Department. Previous to his current position, he was employed by the NM Department of Finance and Administration as the Program Manager of the state’s Local Drinking While Impaired (LDWI) program from 1995 through 2001. Romero has been a member of MADD New Mexico since 2001 where he has served as the state Public Policy Chairman and the state Treasurer. He also served on the Governor’s DWI Task Force and the Santa Fe County DWI Planning Council.
