Light a Virtual Candle for Victims/Survivors

In honor of National Crimes Victims’ Rights Week, we are asking everyone to take part in our online tribute, and light a virtual candle in honor of a loved one who was killed or injured in a drunk driving crash.

Why a tribute:

  • It is an easy way to honor or remember someone dear to you, and at the same time contribute to MADD’s work. In 2010 alone, MADD served a victim or survivor of drunk driving every nine minutes.
  • It allows you to tell your story about your loved one and why you are supporting MADD.
  • It allows you to raise awareness about the importance of eliminating drunk driving.

Candle for Brittany, Xavier, Dorothy, Melony and Kirra who were all injured and close to death when drunk driver literally ran over their vehicle on July 21, 2011. They Judge failed to think of them today when it put driver on 2nd DUI on probation. He was already on probation at the time of the accident and ordered not to consume alcohol. My heart breaks for them and the pain/suffering that will be theirs for a life time.

Honoring my only sister, Darla. Killed 9/07/2007 by a drunk driver. She was a month shy of 50. This year.... I will celebrate turning 50 for us both.

In memory of Gilbert Sena. His life was stolen by a drunk driver Oct 5 2011. Gilberts actions saved my life as I was his passanger. He was a wonderful father to four children and a friend to all that meet him. The world has lost a man with a huge heart and contagious laugh. He is missed and loved by so many.

My Mom, is a survivor of a drunk driver who hit her, she was in a starbucks minding her own business and this exdeputy sheriff of Sacramento County, ran her car through the window and pined my mom under the car, the quick thinking clerk at Starbucks, turned the car off and pulled my mom out of harms way, then rendered first aid until the paramedics could come and take care of her injuries. That is why I am a MADD Supporter.

On March 24th of this year,one of my husband's bestfriends passed away! He was 55 or 56 years old!He had been drinking and wanted to ride my husband's ATV!Coming home from work that night,there were a couple of cars blocking the road and I was told that I couldn't go down there because there was a dead man! Being a nurse,I had to make sure he was dead! Little did I know it would be Roger Holcom...my husband's. best friend! He lost control of the ATV and was thrown off of it! He hit his head and lost alot of blood!! I am sure he did not think he was that drunk! The ATV is locked in our shed and will probably come out again!Roger left behind a 17 year old son and many friends! We miss and love him! I would give anything to have him back but is too late! Even a buzz is too drunk to be on the road! R.I.P. Roger Holcomb! God bless all! Love and prayers,Blondie.!<3
