We want to thank Congressman Frank Wolf for his leadership and advocacy in saving lives and stopping drunk driving, given the news that he will retire when the current Congress adjourns in 2014.
During his service as chairman of the House Transportation Appropriations Committee, Rep. Wolf championed traffic safety initiatives to stop drunk driving, improve truck safety, and make traffic safety a national priority.
He authored the legislation (enacted in 2000) that effectively made .08 the national BAC standard, one of the nation’s most significant accomplishments in the fight against drunk driving. Further, it laid the foundation for MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving®, which is working in every state and at the federal level to save lives. He has also been a consistent champion of the Campaign.
Since his first term in Congress in 1981, Rep. Wolf has helped lead the nation by improving federal traffic safety efforts. He also spearheaded the formation of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in an effort to improve truck safety standards.
His efforts have saved countless lives on our highways and MADD is truly grateful for his efforts. We wish him well in his retirement and hope you do as well.
