Officer Victim Tributes

The Officer Victim Tribute honors those law enforcement officers killed or injured by alcohol-impaired drivers or while enforcing drunk driving laws and/or underage drinking laws.

To find a particular victim, you can search by their last name, or the first few letters of the name. You may also locate tributes based upon particular criteria, such as their home state or the state in which their crash occurred, their age, or their gender. The MADD Victims Tribute is dedicated to the memory of James David Shaver of Houston, Texas and the University of Texas at Austin. James died in a drunk driving crash in 1971 after attending a summer fraternity party.

When I was in my 20's, I thought Jimmy had merely been unlucky, which he was. When I was in my 30's, I thought Jimmy had been foolish to drive after drinking, which he was.

But when I was in my 40's, I realized that Jimmy had been misled by all of us -- the alcohol industry, the fraternity culture, and we, his friends -- to think that being young and having fun means drinking alcohol.

I miss you, Jimmy.
