The Legal Process

MADD has trained Victim Advocates to provide victims with emotional support and information in navigating the legal process that can result from an impaired driving crash. The advocates can accompany victims attending legal proceedings, assist victims applying for Crime Victim Compensation benefits, and assist in preparing a Victim Impact Statement.  MADD also supplies literature such as a comprehensive Victim Assistance Guide and pamphlets on financial recovery issues and choosing a civil attorney. Your local office has information and referrals to civil attorneys specializing in wrongful death and personal injury civil suits.

Emotional Support and Support Groups

The MADD Victim Advocates coordinate support groups and victim to victim connections.  MADD can also provide referrals to local support groups, programs, and professional counselors specializing in traumatic grief.  Victims and families and friends are also provided literature on grief, or injuries specific to each person. The MADD advocates are available to answer any questions and just listen.

Memorials

MADD holds an annual Candlelight Vigil to honor victims killed and injured in impaired driving crashes. Families, friends, and the community are all encouraged to participate and support others. MADD and the Colorado Department of Transportation have enacted a Memorial Sign Program. A sign asking people not to drink and drive and the name of the victim can be erected at the sight of the crash. The sign not only acts as a memorial, but also raises the awareness of others on the road. Please see the Memorial Sign Program link on the home page.

Please contact  Maya or Pam  at the locations listed above for further information on our services and support groups.
