Click It or Ticket

"Click It or Ticket" Safety Mobilization:

The Memorial Day Click It or Ticket Safety Belt Mobilization is scheduled during the mid-May through mid-June timeframes.  As in past years, Florida will be utilizing aggressive, highly visible safety belt enforcement coupled with strong public education and extensive paid advertising to raise safety belt use and, ultimately save lives.

Everyone is encouraged to plan activities in support of "Click It or Ticket", utilizing resources available to you.  Take every opportunity to inform the public about this massive, coordinated campaign and the need to buckle up.  Initiatives can include educational projects, outreach efforts, media facilitation, and much more.  Of course for law enforcement agencies, it should also include strong and aggressive enforcement of safety belt and child restraint laws during the enforcement wave.

Additional information can be found by visiting the Buckle Up Florida website by clicking here.

SUPPORTING ACTIVITIES FOR "Click It or Ticket"

Below are some of the activities that you can do in your area in support of Click It or Ticket.  Of course, there is wide range of possibilities not listed and you may already have some good ideas for activities in your area.  The important thing is to be involved!

  •  Contact newspapers, television news stations and radio stations and encourage them to feature stories about safety belt use and "Click It or Ticket".
  •  Arrange for a law enforcement officer or other safety advocate to appear on local radio or television talk shows or community programs to speak about Click It or Ticket and the importance of buckling up.
  •  During the enforcement wave, arrange ride alongs for media members with law enforcement officers giving them first hand coverage of the Click It or Ticket enforcement taking place.
  •  Facilitate announcements about Click It or Ticket in newsletters, paychecks, utility bills, and other internal and external communications.
  •  Arrange for the Click It or Ticket message and enforcement wave dates to be placed on business marques and other outdoor signage throughout your area.
  •  Obtain "Safety Belt Enforcement Wave In Progress" banners from your local Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL) and hang them at heavy traffic locations during the enforcement period.
  •  Stage an earned media event with a special focus on safety belt and child safety seat use, like child safety seat checks, observational surveys, or buckle up pledges at a church or special school assembly.  Such media events should be coordinated with the LEL in your area so that activities do not occur in competition with each other.
  •  Conduct or facilitate safety belt presentations at churches, schools, business councils and civic organizations.  Enlist business and community leaders to spread the message throughout their organizations.
