MADD was founded in 1980 and is a grassroots based organization with more than 600 chapters and community action teams across the country and more than three million members.  MADD has been instrumental in the passage of more than 200 anti-drunk driving laws since 1980.

MADD is not a crusade against alcohol consumption and does not oppose responsible alcohol use by individuals 21 and older in it's efforts to fight impaired driving.

MADD MISSION STATEMENT: To stop drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.
