WELCOME
MADD is more than moms. We are women, men and youth of all ages – both victims and concerned citizens – all working to keep our roadways and communities safer. Drunk driving crashes are not “accidents.” They are 100 percent preventable. MADD is not against responsible adult drinking; we are working to end drunk driving and underage drinking.
Did you know that “drunk driving is the nation’s most frequently committed violent crime?” In 2005, Marion County experienced 59 traffic crash fatalities, of which 21 where a direct result of drinking and driving. Although our local Site in conjunction with local law enforcement, and community agencies has made great strides in reducing drunk driving, we are very aware that there is still much work to be done.
We can all play a role in preventing these needless tragedies: If you drive don’t drink and if you drink don’t drive. The Marion/Alachua County MADD Community Action Site would like to invite you to become a part of our non-profit grassroots organization with approximately 165 members and growing.
MADD is the nation’s largest crime victims’ assistance organization. Our chapter can assist victims with trained staff and volunteers, who can provide emotional support and guidance through the criminal justice system.
