Victim Impact Panels
Victim Impact Panels (VIPs) are offered in most counties as a means for those who have been impacted by drunk driving to share their stories with DUI offenders. Often DUI offenders are required to attend VIPs as part of their probation or sentence. Those who have been injured or who have lost loved ones in drunk driving crashes tell their stories in the hope that offenders can see first hand what effects drunk driving can and often does have.
MADD Northeast and our Illinois State MADD office operate many of these panels. In some counties, the panels are operated by the county court system. Please see the chart below for information on VIPs in the Northeast Region of Illinois for 2008.
