What Are the Maryland Numbers?

In 2008, there were 591 fatalities in roadway crashes in Maryland.  152 fatalities were alcohol-related (26% of the fatalities were caused by an impaired driver.)

Nationally, there were 37,261 people killed on our roads - 11,773 were alcohol-related (32% of the national highway fatalities were caused by an impaired driver.)

What Are the Anne Arundel County Numbers?

In 2008,  there were 49 fatal crashes.  18 were alcohol-related (up from 2007).

What Are the Prince George's County Numbers?

In 2008, there were 130 fatal crashes, with 28 alcohol-related (down from 2007).

The crux of the impaired driving problem is not so much the lack of adequate laws, but the lack of consistent enforcement and prosecution.
