The Compassionate Friends

The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is an informal support group of bereaved families who meet together to learn to cope with the grief and pain of living life without our child.  We cannot take away the hurt, but we can help each other to hope again.  Over the long-term we try to help each other to get better.  It helps to talk to someone who has been down this path before.  We pass on what we have learned about the grief process and the steps toward recovering.

TCF attendees share with nonjudgemental and understanding listeners.  We do not feature professional counselors or psychiatrists providing guidance; just plain people who share the loss of a child.  TCF offers comfort, hope, support and help.

We welcome all bereaved parents, siblings, grandparents, and support people to our meetings.  There are no dues and all bereaved family members are welcome.

Our meetings include sharing and compassionate caring for each other.  No one is required to talk unless he or she wishes to do so.  The Potomac, MD TCF Chapter has a sibling support group, which meets at the same time and place as the parent group.  This groups is for bereaved brothers and sisters.  All siblings, junior high age and older, are invited.
