Victim Services - Support When You Need It

MADD VS

Long After A Crash, Survivors Still Feel The Impact.  MADD Victim Services Provides Assistance With the  Medical, Emotional, And Legal Struggles That Follow A Drunk Driving Crash.

MADD Victim Services offers emotional support information and referrals to victims/survivors of impaired driving crashes.  Services are provided at no cost to the families thanks to the generosity of our donors and are rendered by trained victim advocates.  MADD Victim Services understands how confusing and intimidating the justice system can be.  Our victim advocates are trained to inform victims/survivors about impaired driving laws and victims rights in their state.  In many instances, victim advocates also accompany victims/survivors to court.

In addition to providing guidance and support throughout the criminal and civil justice processes, victim advocates offer referrals to community resources that are designed to help victims/survivors with financial hardships.  Not to mention, MADD victim advocates maintain referral information on professional counselors, legal representation and other essential services.

Many state and local MADD entities coordinate and facilitate support groups where victims/survivors can meet with others and share similar experiences.  And along with the personal contact we provide, MADD Victim Services produces a wide selection of free literature developed specifically for victims/survivors.  Brochures, workbooks and other publications are available in both English and Spanish and can be viewed online at www.madd.org.

Help Survivors Survive

be a MADD Victim Services Volunteer

To be successful in providing supportive services to victims/survivors of impaired driving crashes, MADD Victim Services relies heavily upon volunteers.  Volunteers not only provide direct services as victim advocates, but also indirect services by supporting the functions of our victim advocates.  MADD Victim Services offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to match your interests and goals with our mission to support victims/survivors of impaired driving.  Many MADD Victim Services volunteers have experienced the tragedy of impaired driving crashes in their own lives, although this is not a prerequisite to being a supportive and caring volunteer.  As a MADD Victim Services volunteer, you might fulfill one or many of the following volunteer functions.

  • Provide direct emotional support to victims/survivors.
  • Accompany victims/survivors to criminal and civil court proceedings.
  • Offer literature and information about grief, the legal process and financial issues.
  • Assist in administrative tasks, such as answering the telephone, mailing letters and making contact with community partners.
  • Organize and facilitate support group meetings.
  • Assist with special events.

MADD Victim Services provides the training you need to be a prepared and effective volunteer.
