MADD Protecting You Protecting Me
![]() Protecting You/Protecting Me is a evidence-based alcohol use prevention curriculum for children in grades 1-5. It has been designated a Model
Program by SAMHSA, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and is available in English, Spanish, and a version tailored for the American Indian.
PY/PM helps reach children before they have fully shaped their attitudes and opinions about alcohol use by youth.
Since 2004, MADD has trained close to 1000 school personnel in over 100 schools state-wide to implement this classroom-based alcohol prevention
program. Annually, close to 25,000 of New Mexico’s children receive Protecting You/Protecting Me, and it’s potentially life-saving message of personal
and community responsibility.
