MADD - North Carolina needs you!  How can you become involved with MADD?

Approximately 3 of 10 Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related crash at some point in their lifetime.  These crashes are 100% preventable!  For the past 25 years, MADD has been working to save lives.  Choosing a designated driver or driving sober is just one way you can help MADD.

  • Remember MADD in your will
  • Give a memorial goft in honor of a loved one killed or injured

What Else Can YOU Do?

  • Your best defense against a drunk driver is to wear your safety belt and be sure children are secured in child safety seats.
  • Be a responsible host. Serve food and have non-alcoholic drinks available.
  • Don't let your guests drive after drinking alcohol and never serve alcohol to someone under the age of 21.
  • Write letters to the editor of local newspapers expressing your concern over drunk driving and underage drinking in your community. Never ride in a car with someone who has been drinking -- call a cab or ask a friend to drive you home.
  • Support measures to strengthen drunk driving and victims rights laws by contacting elected officials.
  • Report drunk drivers immediately to area law enforcement from a car phone or pay phone with the license plate number, description of the vehicle and the direction in which it was traveling.
  • If you or someone you love becomes the victim of a drunk driving crash, call 1-800-248-6233.
  • Demonstrate your commitment to fight drink driving by becoming a member of MADD. Membership is open to anyone. Victims, concerned citizens, law and safety workers, health professionals, and businesses have joined the membership ranks of MADD.
