Wright - Dayton Police Department We salute these officers for their diligence in apprehending drunk drivers and recogninze them as our first line of defense against drunk drivers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CONGRATULATIONS The Cincinnati Police Department and The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Distrcit 8 in Wilmington received the MADD National President's Law Enforcement Award on September 6, 2008 at the MADD National Conference in Dallas, Texas. Chief Thomas Streicher, Cincinnati Police Department and Colonel Richard Collins, Ohio State Highway Patrol accepted the awards from Laura Dean-Mooney, MADD National President. The departments were recognized for their combined efforts to get drunk drivers, speeders and aggressive drivers off the streets and highways in Cincinnati. During an eleven week period in October, November and December,2007, the Cincinnati Metropaltian Area Iniatitive arrested 299 drunk drivers, had 5 few deaths, 644 fewer traffic crashes, resulting in a 40% reduction in traffic fatalities compared to the same time period in 2006.
