Help Us Help Others

Dear MADD members and Supporters:

    Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) helps to save lives - the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates more than 330,000 lives since 1980.  Our work in the courts, legislature,schools and community has made an impact.  Yet there are still close to 450,000 drunk driving crashes in the U.S each year and last year 16,885 lives were lost, 505 of those fatalities were in Ohio.  Our vision is that there are no more drunk driving vcictims and we need your help to get there.

The mission of MADD is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking.

The organization is governed by a national board of directors, and an administrative staff in Irving, Texas and Washington, D.C., who work collectively to provide local affiliates and state charters with training, resources and information so they can deliver MADD services and programs throughout the nation.

Directly or indirectly, drunk driving affects each one of us.  How would you cope with the devastating loss of a loved one?  How would you explain to your surviving children what happened?  Would you be able to navigate the criminal court system?

Drunk driving us a community problem that must be addressed through a unified community effort.  MADD Southwestern Ohio Affiliate is completing a productive, meaningful year and with the help of our community supporters, we achieved the following together:

5 presentations of MADD's award winning Multi-Media prevention, education program to area middle and high schools, reaching 5700 school students;

  • 102 free cab rides were provided to individuals during the 2005/2006 New Year's weekend  to those who believed they were not able to drive home safely.  CARE Cab is sponsored by MADD and supported by AAA Cincinnati.;
  • 12 Victim Impact Panel and Victim Awareness Programs, at which over 300 convicted drunken drivers heard the devastating impact their decision could have on others;
  • 1012 victims and survivors of drunk driving crashes were provided free victim services;
  • 17,000 school students heard our life-saving messages;

    However, our work is far from over.  We have set as our goal in 2007 to reach more victims and survivors, educate more children on the dangers of underage drinking, and save lives by enhancing public awareness throughout our community.

    When people like you become aware and involved drunk driving decreases and lives are saved.  MADD has a proven track record, but we have never achieved success without the support of individuals like you.  MADD is dedicated to stopping drunk driving and you can help.  YOU CAN:
