Programs

MADD offers a wide range of public awareness programs to schools and the general public.  Listed below is a summary of some of MADD's most popular programs.  Please call your local chapter to find out what programs are currently ongoing and how you might get involved.  There's something for everyone!

Who Should Be Involved

MADD is an organization of activists, dedicated to action that will change society's attitude towards drinking and driving.  The successful MADD chapter involves many individuals who are committed and able to coordinate chapter activites and serve victims on a daily basis.  Person with energy and time, who have both empathy for victim issues and organizational abilities, are needed.  MADD is not only mothers but fathers, brothers, sisters, friends, concerned citizens - any person determined to help MADD achieve its mission.

Candlelight Vigil

The MADD South Carolina Candlelight Vigil is held to support DUI victims and survivors, to increase the public's awareness regarding the tragic consequences of impaired driving, and to express hope for a less violent future for all of us.

Tie One On For Safety

Since 1986, MADD has used a red ribbon as a public awareness program to caution drivers to travel safe and sober during the deadly holiday season. Get involved with your local chapter by tying a red ribbon to a visible part of your car to show others your support of sober driving - and encourage others to do the same!

Youth In Action

This is a program through which young people are recruited who want to make a positive impact on their peers regarding making positive recreational and health choices that eliminate not only the use of alcohol but eliminate the attitude that alcohol (and other drug use) is cool.

Other Programs Include

Designate A Driver, Buzz Free Prom/Graduation, Sobriety Check Points, Sober or Slammer Campaign, and Buckle Up SC - just to name a few!
