Drunk driving is the most frequently committed violent crime in our country.  And, in Texas, this crime is committed more frequently than in any other states.  According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 1,734 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes in Texas in 1999.  We surpassed California (1,351 fatalities), a state with a larger population.

For a closer look at nationwide and state statistics, please visit the NHTSA website at http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/.
