  •  The likelihood of a driver in Harris County to lose his life to a drunk driver is more than 4 times greater than in Travis County (Austin ), almost 3 times greater than in Bexar County (San Antonio ), and more than 1 ½  times greater than in Dallas County . (source 2).

Source 1:  NHTSA’s National Center for Statistics and Analysis, August 2006 and (Source 2 ) NHTSA Information Services Branch, NCSA CMS# 2005.00908.S.A.S; B.K.; September 12, 2005 preliminary.  The above alcohol estimates are obtained using a sophisticated statistical procedure.  State totals in the various BAC and Alcohol-Related categories may not equal sum of county totals due to independent rounding.  Also, percentages as displayed are calculated from unrounded numbers of estimated fatalities and may not equal those calculated form the rounded numbers (especially for counties with very few fatalities).  Missing counties indicate no occurrences of fatalities in that county.
