The Power of Parents - It's Your Influence
According to studies, parents are still the most important influence in a child’s life. MADD knows that parents can influence the decisions of their kids when it comes to alcohol. This is exactly why it is a priority for MADD to work and empower parents with this message.
This fall, MADD will launch workshops, a website, and handbook to help parents of high school student’s talk about underage drinking prevention. The new program, sponsored by Nationwide Insurance, has an fall launch and includes three key elements:
- A new website that addresses warning signs for parents and provides answers to parents’ toughest questions.
- Online forms to talk to other parents
- Ask the Expert
- Effective strategies in your community
- MADD’s Parent Handbook
- Effective communication tools
- Difference in parenting styles
- Background on the dangers of underage drinking
- A community-based program that includes workshops for parents across the nation. The scientifically proven method used by the program will reduce underage drinking by teaching parents how to deal with this difficult issue.
