MADD in the Community

MADD is a community grassroots volunteer organization. Our state office currently oversees four West Virginia MADD community action sites in Berkeley, Harrison-Barbour, Monongalia, and Mercer counties. These sites have provided victim services, prevention education, community activism, and public awareness activities since 1990. Community Action Sites, completely manned by trained volunteers, undertake activities consistent with MADD’s core and supplementary strategies:

1) Implement awareness campaigns, pursue speaking engagements and cultivate media relationships to increase public knowledge of the impact of drunk driving;

2) Provide support for law enforcement through recognition events, information for shift briefings; and assistance with sobriety checks and/or saturation patrols;

3) Support victims of drunk driving through emotional support, court accompaniment, support groups, information and referral, crime victim compensation guidance, victim impact panels, and victim/survivor vigils; and

4) Reduce underage drinking and/or high risk drinking through school assembly presentations and youth programs that assist law enforcement with compliance checks.

MADD West Virginia Community Action Sites (CAS)

Community action sites are local MADD chapters, providing advocacy, services and education in their areas.  Community action sites are self-supporting entities, and need your financial support.  They also offer volunteer opportunities for persons who want to make a worthwhile difference in their community.
