Statistics Driving under the influence is a violent crime committed throughout the state of West Virginia, despite being 100% preventable. According the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) statistics, one-third of West Virginia’s traffic fatalities were alcohol-related last year. 2,600 West Virginians were injured and 142 were killed. Tragically, we were one of the few states with more drunk driving fatalities in 2007 than the year before. 33 percent more. In fact, over the past three years, every year has seen more West Virginians killed in drunk driving crashes than the year before. We need to reverse this trend. We need your help to manage it. | |||
