The so-called "Affluenza" teen, Ethan Couch, remains in the juvenile court system. For now. Due to a legal technicality, a Texas judge postponed the January 19th transfer hearing for the prosecution’s motion to transfer Couch from juvenile to adult court. The hearing is now scheduled for February 19th instead.
On January 11, MADD asked for 30,000 petition signatures demanding that Couch’s case be moved from juvenile to adult court before the January 19th hearing. Within 24 hours, 30,000 people joined MADD on the #FightAffluenza Petition!
However, the fight isn't over. Now that the transfer hearing is rescheduled, MADD is asking for 60,000 petition signatures before the hearing!
Let’s continue to #FightAffluenza and reach 60,000 signatures by February 19th!
Couch is no child. His actions are not that of a child.
The nation has watched with anger and disdain as Couch continues to show blatant disregard for the law. The families impacted will never have their loved ones back. Couch must be treated like the adult he is.
Join us to fight affluenza. No more excuses. No more chances. No more victims.
