Law Enforcement Support
MADD California provides support services to law enforcement through assistance with educational and awareness materials at sobriety checkpoints, public education about the devastating crime of drunk driving, recognition events to encourage and thank officers for removing drunk drivers from the roadways to keep law abiding citizens safe.
The 2012 MADD California Hero Awards was held on June 2, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Sacramento. More than 600 people attended the event and MADD California recognized 171 officers from departments throughout the state for their contributions to MADD's mission. The Orange Police Department was awarded the Law Enforcement Agency of the Year, Corvus Communications was awarded with the Corporate Citizen of the Year, Jerry Ann McCarty was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year, KGET 17 News out of Bakersfield was awarded the Media Making a Difference Award, and Anne-Berit Condit was recognized with the Heart of MADD.
MADD California thanks everyone that attended the event and all of the officers that were recognized throughout the year.
MADD California hosts 20 local regionally based events throughout the state. The awards at these local events are based strictly on the number of arrests an officer makes during a one year period. Members of the district attorney's office are recognized at the local events as well for their efforts to support victims and prosecute defendants to the fullest extent.
For more information about the state-wide event, or any local events, please email Silas Miers or contact MADD California at 916-481-6233.
