On May 3, 2017, MADD Tennessee participated in The Big Payback, an annual giving day hosted by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The event is a community-wide giving day that celebrates Middle Tennessee’s spirit of generosity and supports the life-changing work of area nonprofits. The event kicked off at midnight on Wednesday, May 3, for 24-hours of online giving to help organizations, like MADD Tennessee, raise much-needed funds and bring awareness to pressing needs in our community. Gifts made to participating organizations during #TheBigPayback were amplified by incentives and awards given to organizations that had the most number of unique donors in certain time periods, the most money raised in certain time periods, or to the organization who was lucky enough to receive a donation closest to a specific time slot. Since its inception in 2014, Middle Tennessee’s annual day of giving has raised more than $6.75 million for nearly 800 area nonprofits, including schools and religious institutions.
This year, MADD honored 24 Victims in 24 Hours of Giving. Every 6 hours, another 6 victims were featured beginning at midnight on May 3. The victims were all from Tennessee impaired driving crashes. MADD asked supporters to donate and give a voice to those who could not speak out for themselves against impaired driving. We were very happy with the amazing response from our Facebook followers who did an incredible job of responding to and sharing our posts and helping to promote the event and the stories of our victims. Not only did we successfully raise over $1,800 for MADD, but our social media reach for May 3 was over 13,000 people! That is 13,000 people who were impacted by MADD's mission, by the stories of these victims, in a single day! We also gained almost 100 new Facebook followers from the event!
Thank you for supporting MADD and our victim families whom we know were so very moved by your response!
