Welcome to MADD Mississippi!    

This site has been created to serve as a resource that provides you with updated and detailed information regarding the campaign to eliminate drunk driving in Mississippi. Whether you're looking for DUI statistics, victim assistance information, state legislation, youth programs, or ways to get involved, MADD Mississippi has a variety of outlets designed to accomodate you and we invite you to browse and revisit this site often.

MADD Mississippi's state office is located in Pearl, Mississippi. Statewide administration and initiatives originate here; however, we have designated Community Action S ites (chapters) throughout the state that serve and implement programs conducive for specific areas. For your convenience, more information about our CAS and their leaders is also posted on this site.

Mississippi Facts:

  • 302 people died on Mississippi roads in 2007
  • Every 1000 days, more than 6000 tickets are issued to drunk drivers who have been convicted of driving drunk two or more times.
  • Mississippians between the ages of 15 and 20 years account for 10% of drunk driving fatalities.
  • Underage drinking in Mississippi costs $534 million.

In 2007, MADD Mississippi...

  • assisted 628 victims of drunk driving by providing them onsite guidance with the court system, assistance with Victim Compensation and emotional support.
  • organized 99 Victim Impact Panels that ensured that 3557 convicted first time offenders heard about the consequences of drunk driving from victims themselves.
  • reached 46,516 students throughout the state with a preventive message on the consequences of underage drinkning.

 

The mission of  Mothers Against Drunk Driving is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crimeand prevent underage drinking.
