King Police Department Weekend Roundup
The King Police Department arrested 5 impaired drivers this past weekend during their sobriety checkpoint activity held on Highway 66 at Helsabeck Rd on May 31 at 10:00 p.m.
The overtime and efforts contributed by our dedicated law enforcement officers has made our community roads and highways safer by cracking down on impaired drivers, Chief Ledford said. The injuries and deaths resulting from traffic crashes involving impaired drivers are preventable and the use of sobriety checkpoints is a way to reduce these tragic crimes.
Three law enforcement agencies, a total of 12 law enforcement officials, worked 60 hours of combined operations and made 5 DUI arrests on Saturday, May 31 from 10:00 pm till 2:00 am. Also, during the checkpoint, a total of 51 other violations were charged.
Despite the fact that impaired driving fatalities in America have decreased in the past years, there is still much to be done, said Chief Ledford. We will continue to work diligently to make roads and highways safer by conducting more high visibility enforcement.

ALSO.......
Well this is great! (see below) Officer Deeney handed the Attorney a "Shattered Dreams" book.
He does this when he gives DW'sI. He hands the family or the person a "Shattered Dreams" book.
I thought that was pretty good. The Kernersville Officers are always nice and wanting to work together.
That book is really great,

JOURNAL REPORTER

Blair Carr, one of three staff attorneys for the city of Winston-Salem , was suspended yesterday pending termination after a city internal review into her arrest last month on drunken-driving charges, officials said.
Shortly after noon on Dec. 21, a workday, Carr was behind the wheel near Yadkinville and Reynolda roads with a blood-alcohol level of 0.28, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08, according to court papers.
She was charged with DWI and possession of an open container of alcohol in her vehicle.
Her court date is Jan. 22, court records say.
Carr was not at home last night when a reporter called, and she could not be reached for comment.
City Manager Lee Garrity said that Carr has five days to file a grievance to contest the facts of the case or the punishment. Otherwise, she will be terminated.
Carr has a salary of $79,492, according to city records. Her experience in municipal law made her a prime candidate when she left her job as a Greensboro city attorney in April to make the move to work in Winston-Salem .
She was responsible for legal issues concerning public works, including the City-County Utilities Division. She helped draft the cityÃÆ’Æ’Æ’ÃÆ’†’ÃÆ’Æ’âââââ€Å
