MADD Southwestern Ohio Chapter was founded on December 6, 1981 , as the result of the deaths of 14 year old Ken Watson on October 16, 1981 , and 17 year old Julie Taylor on November 7, 1981 . The travesty of the criminal justice system - neither of the drivers spent one night in jail - prompted the mothers of these two children to begin a MADD  chapter to stop the senseless deaths and injuries caused by drinking and driving. As MADD Southwestern Ohio enters our 27th year we are grateful to see so much reduction in the percentage of drunk driving deaths and underage alcohol consumption. There has been the passage of many new laws and a new public awareness about how prevalent these problems are yet there is still so much to be done .

As you navigate around our website please remember that there are still hundreds of preventable deaths in the state of Ohio every year. Please take a moment to pledge your support by clicking on the Donate Locally link at the top of this page. You may also help to support Mothers Against Drunk Driving by viewing our page on Fundraisers. If you are a victim and would like information on Victim's Assistance, we encourage you to visit our web page dedicated to that issue or to contact our office at (513) 769-6800 or toll free at 1-877-721-6233. Also, we can always use volunteers to help us in our various activities - visit our page on Volunteering to see what's available. You can also support MADD  by contacting your legislators. View which legislation is high on MADD 's agenda by visiting our Legislation page where you'll also find useful tips on finding and contacting your government officials.

Remember that drunk driving is a crime, not an accident.
Please do your part to help stop this most frequently committed violent crime.
