Sponsorship Objectives/Guidelines

MADD always welcomes the opportunity to develop new corporate relationships that will further our mission to stop drunk driving, serve victims/survivors of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking. Below, you’ll find our standards for consideration in a partner relationship.

MADD seeks partners who have a strong brand image and a desire to protect families. Our goal is to offer a variety of programs and activities that encourage people and partners to get involved and effectively advance the mission of MADD.

MADD uses the following guidelines to evaluate a potential partnership:

  • MADD will only consider a business relationship with organizations that have operated with the public for a minimum of one year.
  • MADD is unable to consider proposed partnerships or donations of any kind from the Alcohol Industry or companies affiliated with the Alcohol Industry as defined under MADD policy and companies that operate in the Ignition Interlock industry.
  • As a public charity, MADD is unable to endorse (directly or indirectly) a company’s product/service or give the perception of marketing or endorsing a product on behalf on the sponsor. Sponsor acknowledgment, however, is a  sponsor benefit.
  • MADD follows the Better Business Bureau Standards for Charity Accountability, and expects any possible sponsor to also operate under those guidelines.  These guidelines require clear disclosure to the consumer.

In compliance with these guidelines, Mothers Against Drunk Driving requires full disclosure regarding the benefit to the organization when funds are raised through a consumer purchase or promotion (e.g. $1 from the sale of each item) on all packaging, advertising and promotional materials in clear and unambiguous terms. Your company/organization must be able to comply with this requirement.

Mission Partnerships

MADD’s corporate partnership tie into a specific MADD initiative, run for a minimum of twelve months and guarantee a minimum donation to MADD of at least $20,000.

Cause-Related Promotion

  • For cause-related marketing promotions, MADD expects a minimum donation of 10% of the product’s retail price and a minimum contribution.
  • Our cause-related partners must agree to publish our logo and web site address with every cause-marketing initiative to better build a connection between partner’s consumer base and MADD.

Logo/Licensed Marks Usage

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) owns the registration for the Mothers Against Drunk Driving name, logo, and “The Power of Parents It’s Your Influence,” “The Campaign To Eliminate Drunk Driving” and “Walk like MADD” names, programs and Licensed Marks, as well as pending Marks.  Permission is required for use of any of these Licensed Marks. A party that desires to use these Licensed Marks must execute a written contract with the Mothers Against Drunk Driving that outlines how the Licensed Marks will be used; otherwise, use of the Licensed Marks and pending marks is not permitted.
