Congratulations Janice!

After more than 30 years since she started MADD CT from her home, our fearless leader and State Executive Director, Janice Heggie Margolis, is retiring. To say she made an impact in this state would be a huge understatement. As a nurse in the ER prior to her career with MADD, she saw countless victims and survivors of drunk driving crashes and decided that she needed to do something about it. Flash forward to today, after years of working to get legislation passed to strengthen DUI laws, educating the public on the the dangers of drunk driving and underage drinking, as well as supporting victims and survivors through the toughest time in their lives, we have seen the number of fatalities in Connecticut due to alcohol related crashes get cut in half. Thank you Janice for seeing the need and starting MADD CT all those years ago. Thank you for working tirelessly your entire career to make our state a safer place for us all. We promise to continue the work you started, and assure you that MADD CT is in good hands. After all, we learned from the best. We will miss you greatly and wish you well on your new adventure. Enjoy your retirement, you have earned it!
