FOX 5 Atlanta Highlights Efforts of Walk Like MADD Co-Chairs

“MADD is mothers, it’s fathers, it’s sisters, it’s brothers, it’s family members, it’s friends of people that all want to make a difference, that want to stop drunk driving.”

– Amy Sands, Walk Like MADD Co-Chair

On September 28, 2017, FOX 5 Atlanta’s Katie Beasley aired her interview with the 2017 Mercedes-Benz Stadium 5K/Walk Like MADD Co-Chairs Amy Sands and Angela Blank on Good Day Atlanta. The efforts and leadership of Amy Sands and Angela Blank, along with the support of the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United FC, and the Atlanta Track Club, continue to bring MADD Georgia’s Walk Like MADD event to new heights. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz Stadium 5K/Walk Like MADD ends on the 50-yard line inside of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Both Amy Sands and Angela Blank have personal connections to the mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Amy lost her son, Tyler, nearly 5 years ago when he was killed after getting into the car with a drunk driver. He was a senior at Clemson University out celebrating his 22nd birthday.

In the FOX 5 interview, Angela shares that, “Both my father, and my two youngest children’s father died from alcoholism at the age of 47, so it was very important for me for my kids to be educated on the dangers of alcoholism.” Angela Blank has been a key force in the growing partnership between MADD Georgia and the Atlanta Falcons, in addition to her role as a now three-time Co-Chair of the Walk Like MADD event.
