On March 9, 2014, my son Brandon Bennett was killed by a drunk driver. Brandon , age 20, was on his way to serve our country in the Texas Army National Guard when a mother of three children was drunk, speeding twice the legal limit and ran a red light. Brandon was t-boned in the driver’s side of his vehicle. All of this took place shortly after 5:00 am on a Sunday morning. Thankfully, the woman was given 20 years in prison for this crime; however, it won’t bring my youngest son back to me. This senseless crime has caused so much grief to me and so many other people and all the while knowing that it was 100% preventable.
