My 18yo cousin was killed by a drunk driver just before the start of the second semester of his freshman year of college. He was bright and already showed a lot of promise and success in entrepreneurship. Not six months later, I was hit by a drunk driver as a pedestrian and spent a month in the hospital with no less than three close calls with death. These incidents made 2017 a hard year for my entire family, but my father and his sister in particular who had lost or nearly lost both a son or daughter and a niece or nephew. While I made it through, I am still fighting a court system that is sitting on their hands with holding the driver accountable. And Caleb will never be coming back.
