I lost my brother 2 weeks after his 20th birthday. He was a volunteer fireman and was clearing a rockslide in reflective gear, with flares out, in a rainstorm at night, and was struck and killed by a drunk driver. It has been 34 years, but just writing this brings me to tears. I don’t think of him every day anymore, but I still grieve and miss my little brother. I worked for years in the ER taking care of both the drunk drivers and their victims. There is NO excuse for drunk driving. Period. You shoot someone and we call it murder, but if you kill them with your car? Sorry, there is no excuse. Either for those who drink and drive, or for the system that lets it happen.
