2024 Law Enforcement & Prosecutor Recognition Awards

Since its inception, MADD’s Law Enforcement, Prosecutor and Recognition Awards (LER) has garnered exceptional praise. Each year, MADD acknowledges the efforts of law enforcement personnel for their annual arrests of impaired driving arrests, alongside first responders, prosecutors, probation officers, and MADD volunteers for their life-saving endeavors. Removing impaired drivers from the road potentially saves lives, and we invite you to join us in honoring these heroes nationwide by supporting the 2024 MADD Law Enforcement, Prosecutor and Recognition Awards Ceremonies.

In 2023, MADD Sacramento recognized over 250 law enforcement officers, prosecutors, first responders, and community groups for their unwavering commitment to impaired driving enforcement and prosecution. We are delighted to celebrate their remarkable contributions to enhancing roadway safety, and we urge you to stand with MADD in honoring these heroic individuals.

We ahve listed our specialty Award Categories below.  Please take some time to think through who you might be able to recognize in the organizations, departments or agencies around you.

Outstanding Officer – MADD will award an officer who has made a difference in the last year by going above and beyond in the area(s) of education, prevention, policy, and/or enforcement and whose efforts impact reducing alcohol or drug related  death or injury. Please submit a summary describing the officer’s outstanding service below. You will be able to attach supporting documents. PHOTO IS REQUIRED and can be attached when you complete your nomination.

Outstanding Rookie – MADD will award a rookie officer who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to reduce alcohol or drug related death and injury. A rookie is defined as an officer or deputy with less than one year of service.

Outstanding Dispatcher – MADD will award an outstanding dispatcher who has contributed in a significant way to a DUI arrest or crash.  The calm, cool heads of these professionals make a difference in how well first responders on the scene can attend to those impacted by a crash. They are also key in getting information to officers that can lead to the arrest of someone before a crash can happen.

First Responder (EMTs and Firefighters) – MADD seeks nominations for outstanding work by first responders, individuals, or agencies including emergency medical services, firefighters, medical personnel, etc. When there is an impaired driving crash, EMT/fire personnel rush to the scene; whether offering medical services, extricating injured victims or securing blood evidence from an alleged impaired driver.  These agencies and individuals are vital to supporting MADD’s mission.
