MADD Reaches River Bluff HS Students

On February 5th, MADD South Carolina partnered with the Town of Lexington Police Department Traffic Division for a day-long Expedition Kickoff educating approximately 250 freshman students at River Bluff High School on the dangers of drunk, drugged, and distracted driving.

MADD’s Underage Drinking Program Specialist Ashley Merrick delivered the Power of You(th) program, laying out the dangers of underage drinking and how their positive decisions can make a difference in their lives as well as the lives of their friends.

Kimberly Cockrell, one of MADD’s Victim Services Specialists, closed the program sharing the story of Nancy Moore Thurmond, her best friend who was struck and killed by a drunk driver in Columbia in 1993.

MADD appreciates the opportunity to speak in our community, especially with our youth, in a effort to make a  difference and save lives.  We welcome the opportunity to bring the Power of You(th) program to any youth group.  You can get in touch with Ashley to discuss having us come to your school, church youth group, etc. by emailing [email protected].
