WALK Like MADD Greenville Upstate Success

The 2nd Annual Walk Like MADD Greenville Upstate Presented by HotSpot was held Oct. 7th at ICAR in Greenville and was another huge success.  We thank all the walkers, volunteers, and corporate partners who came together in support of our vision of a future of No More Victims.  It was a fun and emotional day that so far has raised more than $40,000 to fuel our mission—well beyond our goal of $28,000.  We are so grateful.

We have to extend an incredibly special thank you to HotSpot.  In a true “above and beyond” act of support, HotSpot purchased an ATV and held a raffle through for several weeks at all 40 of their locations.  All of the proceeds went to Walk Like MADD Greenville Upstate.  At the Walk, HotSpot presented a check for $21,352!  We don’t have the words to full express our appreciation for their generosity!

We also thank our other sponsors.  Our Contributing Sponsors are AAA Carolinas Traffic Safety Foundation and Yarborough Applegate Law Firm.  Our Supporting Sponsors are Auger & Auger Law Firm and Molina Healthcare of SC.  Our Friends of MADD sponsors were Upstate Wealth Management, SCAPPA, J. Freeman & Associates, Marsh & McLennan Agency, and Family Dental Health of Brushy Creek.

Additional thanks go to the Walk Leadership Team lead by Amanda Davis, The Phoenix Center, Drive Alert Training Academy, Audio Solutions, the J.L. Mann Band, Dunkin’ Donuts, the New Rejoice 96.9 FM, Guardian and LifeSafer ignition interlock device company, the SC Highway Patrol, and AmeriCorps VISTA members.

The Top Fundraising Team Award went to The MADD Hatters and the Top Individual Fundraiser from a victim/survivor team went to Debi O’Connor.  As a thank you, thank to BMW, Debi won the right to choose a new BMW to drive for a weekend!

Fundraising for the Walk can continue until November 7th.  Currently, the Walk is only about $200 short of breaking the state Walk record set by Walk Like MADD Columbia earlier this year!  It also extends MADD SC’s “streak” of eight for eight for Walks making goal!

Let’s make it nine at Walk Like MADD Columbia on Saturday, March 23rd!
