WALK Like MADD Lowcountry Presented by Yarborough Applegate
We are excited to say that Walk Like MADD Lowcountry Presented by Yarborough Applegate on November 9th at Hampton Park in Charleston was a huge success. Not only did we exceed our goal but we had great participation. The low temperatures did not stop many victim families, survivors, MADD supporters and friends from coming out to make this Walk a special day. We are so grateful for every sponsor, walker, and donor–because of you, families received the opportunity to honor their loved ones impacted by this tragic and preventable crime. A special thank you to our presenting sponsor, Yarborough Applegate. To all of the victims, survivors, and families, we applaud your strength to honor your loved one’s legacy. You are turning tragedy into triumph, and we at MADD South Carolina are honored to stand alongside you to support you during this process.
At the Walk, we had the opportunity to honor Jasmine and Shanecquia Brooks. The Brooks sisters were our 2019 Walk Like MADD Lowcountry Honor Family. Jasmine and Shanecquia were killed on February 23, 2018 by a drunk and drugged driver. The driver ran three red lights and had been driving speeds in excess of 100 mph when he hit and killed them. It was our absolute honor to support the Brooks family as they go through this process.
Again, thank you to everyone one that donated, walked, attended, and supported! Because of you, Walk Like MADD Lowcountry Presented by Yarborough Applegate was a success and we can continue the fight of No More Victims. If you missed it, we’ll be back next year for the new annual tradition.
