Zero Proof Mocktail Mix-off

On November 27th, MADD SC staff, friends, and supporters met at the Columbia Fire Department for our first Zero Proof Mocktail Mix-off. This was an awesome event that allowed us to gather together to support the same mission as well as raise funds to continue to pushing the mission of MADD forward to get to a day of No More Victims. During this event we had mixologists from local restaurants and bartending companies to come and make their best non-alcoholic drink. Our guest judges—MADD National President Colleen Sheehey-Church, Columbia Fire Department Chief Aubrey Jenkins, WIS anchor Leland Pinder, and MADD SC Advisory Board Chair Dr. Pam Imm—voted on the best drink. Then we allowed our guests to vote on their favorite drink to give one of the competitors the “People’s Choice” award. It was a tight competition choosing between all those awesome and tasty drinks made. In the end we were able to award Cork’s Bartending Service as the Mix-Off Master and Liberty Tap Room won the People’s Choice.

During our event we had the opportunity to hear from our MADD SC Executive Director Steven Burritt, Chief Jenkins, Colleen, and USC’s Chi Psi fraternity, which is the fraternity of crash victim David Newell. Chi Psi shared that they are soon to make a $10,000 donation from their David Newell Memorial Golf Tournament.

We also had a silent auction with items up for bid such a Char-boil Grill from Lowes, a signed Dabo Swinney football, movie passes, and much more. These items had our guests going back and forth all night. It made for a great time and friendly competition. Some of our guests left with smiling faces and great items!

Again, we would like to thank the Columbia Fire Department for their hospitality, allowing us to hold our event at their facility. Thank you to all of our supporters and friends for your continued support and helping to make this event a success.
