MADD ongoing COVID-19 updates with Online Programming list

At MADD Tennessee, the health, safety, and experience of our victims, volunteers, customers, and employees is our top priority.  As we continue to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we want to share essential actions we are taking in response to this rapidly evolving situation as we comply with recommendations set forth by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

A list of current scheduling changes by program:

 

Victim Impact Panel (VIP) classes

MADD Tennessee will be rescheduling all Victim Impact Panels (VIPs) previously scheduled for the following dates:

March 16 – May 1, 2020.  (Posted March 25, 2020.)

Extended to:  May 1 – May 15 (Posted April 28, 2020.)

Extended to:  May 16 – May 31 (Posted May 8, 2020.)

Extended to June 1 – June 30. (Posted May 26, 2020.)

If you are currently registered for any panels occurring during this time period, please check your email for updated class schedules and instructions regarding your registration being moved to a rescheduled date. (For those panels listed with a rescheduled date of TBD, you will receive an email once a new date has been confirmed.)  Please be understanding that due to the evolving situation regarding COVID-19, we recommend you check our website on the day of your class, to verify it has not been rescheduled.  If you have any questions, please contact the MADD Tennessee State office at 800-544-6233 or tn.state@madd.org.

Victims Services

All MADD Tennessee Victim/Survivor Support Groups will meet online, rather than in-person, beginning in April 2020 until further notice. Underage Drinking Prevention

Power of You(th)

MADD Tennessee is currently offering several online options for participation in our Power of You(th) program for students ages 13-17.

We are also currently scheduling private Online Power of You(th) Zoom presentations with teachers for their class/group of students.  Teachers/Administrators should contact tn.state@madd.org to schedule a meeting. (Posted April 6, 2020.)

 

Power of Parents

MADD Tennessee is currently offering virtual Power of Parents presentations as well.  We offer free guidebooks and workshops to help you talk to your kids about the dangers of underage drinking and drugs.  The program also talks about teen stresses and how they can impact a teen’s decision to use alcohol and drugs as a coping mechanism.  Now is a good time to talk.  Contact us at tn.state@madd.org to sign-up for these free tools and resources.

MADD is now offering online Power of Parents Workshops.

Court Monitoring

Courts may be seeing limited cases right now, but training for our court monitoring volunteers is in full swing! This opportunity is perfect for college students with majors in criminal justice, human services, psychology, social services, and pre-law.

We will conduct Online Court Monitoring Trainings via Zoom at the times listed below.  Please contact jerice.glanton@madd.org if you are interested in attending these or future online Court Monitoring trainings.

 

Legislative Initiatives

The Tennessee General Assembly is currently in adjournment until June 1, 2020.  MADD Tennessee was following several bills being reviewed for the 2020 session.  Once legislators resume activity, we will provide updates as to how the public can help support our continued legislative efforts in Tennessee.  Please follow us on our @MADDTennessee State Facebook page for continuing updates in legislation.

The East Tennessee Walk Like MADD previously scheduled to take place in May 2020 has been rescheduled as a Virtual Walk Like MADD to be held via Facebook Live on June 20,2020Click here for more information about this change.
